Asian Studies WWW Virtual LibraryThe Asian Studies WWW Virtual Library (ASVL) was established in March 1994 by the Australian National University. The ASVL provides an authoritative, continuously updated hypertext guide and access tool to scholarly information resources on the Internet. It deals with the Asian continent as a whole, as well as individual Asian regions, countries, and territories. Excellent and essential but a bit overwhelming in scope. APEC SME Crisis Management CenterSMEs are normally unable to identify crises and risks at the global level and it is usually too late when they perceive and recognize a crisis. "APEC SME Crisis Management Center" has therefore been created to assist SMEs in identifying crisis in an earliest manner, overcoming the impacts of global economic challenges, and offering suggestions for response measures. The site enables access to the monthly issues of the APEC SME Economic Crisis Monitor. Excellent site. Do not ever miss (it should be mandatory reading) the excellent report on Principles and Checklist of Financial Crisis Management. APEC SME Innovation CenterThe APEC SME Innovation Center has two major goals: one is to help APEC member economies exchange information on SME innovation and the other is to establish cooperative networks among APEC members for SME innovation. Age of Asia: Resources for ResearchSet up by Duke University in the US, this research guide provides links to country descriptions, news sources, electronic databases, etc. Although designed for the users of the Fuqua library it is very useful. Do not under any circumstances miss the section on "Asian sources by topics". Asian Institute of ManagementThe Asian Institute of Management is now considered the Harvard of Asia, because of its use of the case method teaching and research. Its mission is to train competent socially responsible managers for Asia and to equip them with the unique tools required to be capable developers and managers of Asian economies and societies. ASEANwebThe Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) was created to accelerate economic growth, social progress and cultural development while promoting regional cooperation. This site provides information on ASEAN issues. Do not miss the sections on economic recovery and economic cooperation. Asia FoundationThe Asia Foundation is a private, nonprofit, nongovernmental organization working to advance the mutual interests of the United States and the Asia-Pacific region. The section on reports and publications is interesting although it provides only summaries. Asian Sources On-lineEntitled "The Web's most comprehensive database of Asian products and suppliers for volume buyers" this site enables you to generate lists of suppliers, of individual products from a specific country, to identify trade reports (not free), etc. An interesting site which also includes links to trade shows. ASIA Yellow WebThe virtual Yellow Pages for Asia. What more can be said? Asia TradeAn on-line business directory where people can advertise for free their businesses, products or services. Very well organized and well presented.
