Divided into eight sections : Starting Up, Managing, Expanding, EU Market, Research & Innovation, Responsible Business, Finance & Support, Exit Strategy, it provides multilingual practical information and online government services for companies looking for business in another country. Excellent site.
REESWeb: Russian and East European Studies Internet Resources
The REESWeb at the University of Pittsburg is a comprehensive index of electronic resources on the Balkans, the Baltic states,the Caucusus, Central Asia, Central Europe, the CIS, Eastern Europe, the NIS, the Russian Federation, and the former Soviet Union.It is also part of the World-Wide Web Virtual Library. A "Must".
BISNIS Online, the Business Information Service for the Newly Independent States (BISNIS), is the U.S. Government's one-stop shop for doing business in Russia and the other states of the former Soviet Union. Excellent site providing, country and industry reports, export opportunities, sources of finance, etc.
Bucknell University: Russian Business & Economics
As the Russian and NIS economies stabilize they provide invaluable insights into the real nature of economic relations in that part of the world. This page contains economic reports as well as essential links related to Business & Economics in Russia.
Central European Initiative (CEI)
CEINet is the information network for the Central European Initiative which aims at European integration and supports its member countries which are not yet EU members, in their approach to the EU. It also contributes to the process of transition in the member states and the development of regional infrastructure. I particularly liked their country pages.
The U.S. Russia Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE) is an entrepreneurship training, education and development organization that promotes economic opportunity, helps build a strong middle class, and enhances the relationship between Russia and the US. The site offers mostly information about the the center's programs. Its most interesting feature is the E-bulletin which is published three times a year. Center for Economic Research (Uzbekistan)
The Center for Economic Research (CER) is a joint project of the government of Uzbekistan and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) whose main objectives are to research social and economic processes, and prepare proposals to deepen the economic reforms conducted in the republic. In addition to general and statistical information on Uzbekistan, the site provides access to research working papers (english and/or russian). Do not miss the economic review magazine and the business links in the links section.
Part of the European Internet Network, Russia Today provides 24 hours coverage of daily news. Best sections are Country Info and Business News. Very good site providing extensive information but unfortunately suffering from slow loading (likely due to heavy banner advertising)
European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is an international financial institution that supports projects from central Europe to central Asia. Investing primarily in private sector clients whose needs cannot be fully met by the market, the Bank fosters transition towards open and democratic market economies.The site provides mostly information on how the EBRD operates. Its most interesting sections are the section on EU/EBRD SME Finance Facitity and the section on Micro and Small Business Finance.
The Russian SME Resource Centre (RCSME) is a leading SME research and analytical centre which provides information and policy advice on private sector development and SME support in Russia. The site presents a list of RCSME projects as well as a library containing downloadable publications. Good but limited site. Do not miss the Best Practice Guide for a Positive Business and Investment Climate which discusses the critical conditions for a positive and dynamic business and investment climate.
Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy
This site from the newly named Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy presents data and analysis on Russian economic and political outlook, monetary policy , financial markets , foreign direct investment, etc. Archives are available since 1995. Very interesting bulletin although sources of data and analysis are not always clearly identified.
Central Europe Online
This site provides general daily news on Eastern and Central Europe but also business news and country info, links to local press and travel information. Quite useful.
This web site describes investment opportunities in the Czech Republic, and gives background data on the Czech economy as well as the political situation and other general information about the Czech Republic.

SBEDIF Business Centre
The objective of this project financed by the Canadian International Development Agency is to "establish a self-sustainable, non-profitable and constantly operating Business Centre "Small Business and Economic Development for Ivano-Frankivsk" (SBEDIF)" in Ukraine. The site is rather limited at this stage and provides only general info on the project components.
