J Guide
The J Guide, as an ongoing project of the Stanford University US-Japan Technology Management Center, is a meta guide of Internet resources on Japan. The Business and Economy section includes more than 150 links. I also liked the "Reference" and "Search Engines and Guides" sections. Excellent site which is an essential starting point for finding information on Japan.

Japan External Trade Organization
The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) offers wide-ranging support for importing in Japan and operates Business Support Centers (BSCs) in major cities to provide, on a free and temporary basis, office space and other support, including consultants to advise on how to enter the Japanese market. Very interesting and useful site. Do not miss the Japanase Market Reports and in the Research section the state of the Japanese economy and the white papers on international trade and foreign investment.

Japan Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry
This is the official site of METI the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry. Essential for understanding government economic policies. Includes sections on the Cool Japan Strategy and the Current Status of Japan's Economy. Many reports are in pdf format and very graphic in their presentation with a high visual appeal (amongst the best I have seen). Excellent site. Do not miss in the White Papers section the report « 2010 Industrial Advancement Promotion Project to Facilitate Economic Partnership » which presents very interesting marketing surveys for HongKong, Singapore, Bangkok and India.

Japan Small Business Research Institute
The Japan Small Business Research Institute (JSBRI), an SME think tank, conducts research, gathers information, provides information, and promotes association with overseas SME organizations. Somewhat limited site (in its english version). Do not miss the excellent 2011 White Paper on Small and Medium Enterprises in Japan : « Rebuilding from the Eartquake and Surmounting Growth Constraints ».

Japan Information Network
Sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Japan Information Network (JIN) is a group of websites introducing the society, culture, and other aspects of Japan and provides answers to practically all your questions about the country.

ASEAN-Japan Centre
The ASEAN Promotion Centre on Trade, Investment and Tourism (ASEAN-Japan Centre) has been promoting exports from ASEAN to Japan while revitalizing investment and tourism from Japan to ASEAN. Very good and Interesting site which provides basic economic data on ASEAN countries as well as data on trade and investment. Do not miss the Marketing Guide for ASEAN Exporters to Japan.

Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Apart from Japan's foreign policy on economic affairs, this site is quite useful for understanding Japan's relations with countries and regions of the world.

Economic Planning Agency of Japan
A rather arid site but very useful for understanding the institutional and policy structure for economic planning in Japan.

SME Support, JAPAN
The Organization for Small & Medium Enterprises and Regional Innovation, JAPAN (SME Support, JAPAN) is an independent administrative agency under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Its mission is to strengthen SMEs that support the Japanese economy as well as to enrich local economies. The English version of the site only provides general information on their activities and institutional support network.
