Sites are reviewed individually and rated mostly according to content depth and value added, while also considering ease of navigation and speed of loading. For each category best resources are listed first.

Latin American Network Information Center (LANIC)
The objective of LANIC is to provide Latin American users with access to academic databases and information services throughout the Internet world, and to provide Latin Americanists around the world with access to information on and from Latin America. An exceptional resource housed by the University of Texas.

La Guia Nueva
This guide, Internet Resources for Latin America: La Guia Nueva, provides access to many sites with brief descriptions of the content and quality of the information. It is also a guide to electronic mail lists, newsgroups, databases and reference tools, online news, organizations, and general resources. An excellent guide which can also be printed.

Foro PYME - Forum PME
The Inter-American Development bank (IDB) and the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) have launched the SME Forum as part of the Regional Management Training Project, and as an interactive site for the exchange of information on the small- and medium-enterprise sector in Latin America. I particularly liked the Conference, Case Studies and Links sections.

Sistema de Información para el Desarrollo Microempresarial
The objective of the "Central America Micro Enterprise Information System" is to provide relevant information to organizations and associations involved in micro and small enterprise development in the region. Setup by COCEMI (Central Coordinating Committe of Microentrepreneurs in Central America) it also aims to provide a political lobbying platform for the sector. Quite unique and very much representative of the importance of the microenterprise sector in Latin America.

Young Americas Business Network
Created by the OAS, the main value added of this web site is the "Internet Directory of Resources for Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises In the Americas and the Caribbean". In addition, the web site provides valuable links to entrepreneurial resources and also includes a dowloadable Enterprise Education Manual.

The Enterprise Research Institute for Latin America
The Enterprise Research Institute for Latin America was founded recently to study the business environment in Latin America. Its work includes evaluating conditions for entrepreneurship and investment both from the perspective of individual investors and reformers. It also deals with issues of small and medium sized enterprises. Their approach on "second generation reforms" and their publication page are quite interesting.

Center for Latin American Capital Markets Research
Despite the "title's" heavy emphasis on research, this site provides practical information on stock exchanges and general economic information.

Argentina Business
Set up by "Fundacion Investir", a non profit institution assisting (for a fee) small and medium sized companies seeking finance for their investment projects, this web site provides a lot of very useful information on doing business in Argentina.

Mexico on-line
MEXICO OnLINE is the complete and independent resource center dedicated to Mexico. Includes excellent general information as well as a business resource center.

BrazilTradeNet
BrazilTradeNet offers a range of business opportunities, useful addresses, news, links and other information, aimed at the needs of Brazilian exporters and Non-Brazilian importers and investors. Some information, such as the Information about Brazil section and the economic indicators on Brazil and Mercosur, is available to everyone. Other information, such as the business opportunities and the Brazilian Company Register, is available only to registered users (free of charge).

SEBRAE Nacional
SEBRAE has developed in Brazil an original system of support to small and microenterprise based on the development and promotion of technological capacity of those microenterprises.
