Categories include leadership skills, team management, strategic tools, problems solving, decision making, time management, stress management, communication skills, creativity techniques, learning and study skills, career skills. Despite the fact that only Mind Tools members can access all skills articles, there is enough free information available to make it an excellent site. You can also subscribe to a free newsletter. Do not miss the section on time management which I found particularly good. International Organization for Standardization (ISO)The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies from 162 countries, one from each country. Its mission is to promote the development of standardization and related activities in the world with a view to facilitating the international exchange of goods and services, and to developing cooperation in the spheres of intellectual, scientific, technological and economic activity. Excellent and very rich site. It should be noted that the ISO publications are quite expensive to purchase. Do not miss the free publications section and the magazine ISO Focus+ which can be read online. SOSIG Business and Management GatewayThe SOSIG Business and Management Gateway provides free access to high quality resources on the Internet. Each resource has been evaluated and categorized by subject specialists based at UK universities. The guide includes a full section on management further divided into financial management, human resources management, management theories, operations management, organizational management, and small and medium size enterprises. Excellent meta index. SOSIG was replaced by Intute which itself has closed in July 2011 although the resource will remain available Management Development Network The Management Development Network (EFMD) is an international membership organization, based in Brussels, Belgium. With more than 500 member organizations from academia, business, public service and consultancy in 65 countries, it provides a forum for information, research, networking and debate on innovation and best practice in management development. About.com guide on managementThis guide on management is divided into several sections amongst which a section on management essentials which includes management 101 and a management glossary, a section on management topics which includes managing people, finance for managers, leadership, management skills, project management, women in management, management theory, etc. Very good site which leads to many interesting links. European Case Clearing HouseThe European Case Clearing House (ECCH) is non-profit organisation distributing case study materials for management education and training. Although any of the 14,000 case studies available have to be purchased, case study reviews which appeared on the newsletter ECCHO can be viewed for free on the website. Asian Institute of ManagementThe Asian Institute of Management is now considered the Harvard of Asia, because of its use of the case method teaching and research. Its mission is to train competent socially responsible managers for Asia and to equip them with the unique tools required to be capable developers and managers of Asian economies and societies. The most interesting part of the site is the section on research centers. Do not miss the Center for Corporate Governance and its publications which can be downloaded. Management LogsManagement Logs consists of 27 discussion forums on management sciences, including forums on benchmarking, change management, business ethics, corporate finance, crisis management, international accounting, performance management, risk management, supply chain management, etc. Interesting site although not very active. |
