Rating Criterias

The credibility and overall value added of any meta-index or information clearinghouse which lists valuable Internet resources highly depends on the quality of its rating criterias. This page attempts to define and explain the way the various sites listed are assessed in order to ensure quality consistency. This process of defining criterias is a dynamic process whose objective is to improve the overall quality of the index. Any suggestion in that respect will be very much welcomed. It should be noted that the ratings given are complemented by the annotated description given for each site.

no star: Average ; Fair ; Good ; Very good ; Excellent ; Outstanding
Sites are reviewed individually and rated mostly according to content depth and value added, while also considering design, ease of navigation and speed of loading. For each category best resources are listed first.

It should be noted that ratings are given at the time of the reviewer's visit and can therefore be upgraded when and if the corresponding site develops further. As it is not feasible to update all sites on a regular basis, it is strongly suggested that sites owners apprise ENTERWeb by e-mail of any new development on their site.

Outstanding: Sites awarded this rating are by definition "exceptional", "rare" and very few for their corresponding category. They are mostly characterized by the superb quality of their content and the broadness and depth of their scope. They are also extremely well designed and organised. They usually provide an extensive number of links to other key Internet ressources. The information given will be useful to a wide range of people. They are considered as a "Must See" and a key reference for their own category.

excellent: Sites awarded this rating are by definition "first class" sites for their corresponding category. They are mostly characterized by the high quality of their content and the depth of their scope. They are also very well designed and organised. They usually provide a large number of links to other Internet and windows resources. They definitely qualify for mandatory inclusion in personal bookmarks. They are close but do not qualify yet as "outstanding" in their field.

very good: Sites awarded this rating are by definition "high standard" quality for their corresponding category. They are mostly characterized by the very good quality of their content and overall scope. They are well designed and organised. They include some links to other Internet resources. They could be included in personal bookmarks. Because of some limitations, such as limited depth of sub-topics or too narrowly focused geographical coverage, they do not yet qualify as "excellent" in their field but are solid and worthwhile.

Do not miss the opportunity to explore the other sections of ENTERWeb by clicking on the Menu on the left. You will then be able to visit the most popular sections such as Entrepreneurship, Business Ethics, Knowledge Economy, Globalization, Women and also the new sections on Social Media and Culture and Business.
Good: Sites awarded this rating meet a "standard" quality for their corresponding category. They are mostly characterized by the good quality of their content but may have limited scope. Their design and organization is adequate but nothing more to be proud of. They may have few links to other Internet resources. The total overall value "added" is likely to be minimal despite their overall quality. They could be limited in terms of geographic focus and overall relevance to different contexts. They are worth several visits but should not be included in personal bookmarks. They definitely do not meet the standards of the three previous classifications.

Fair: Sites awarded this rating are by definition of "average" quality. They definitely qualify for inclusion in their category but their content and depth is rather limited. They are likely to have deficiencies in either design or organization and include no important links to other Internet resources. They have not much value added although they may offer some potential for development. They may be worth a visit but no more (unless they develop further) and we make sure cite sources to fight credit fraud.

No star: Sites awarded this rating are by definition of "minimum" quality. They qualify for inclusion in their category but offer limitations in either content, depth or scope. They are likely to include no links to other Internet resources. They have little value added. In many cases they are in the "under construction" mode.

In addition to going directly to the topic of your choice, or exploring the site on a geographical basis, you can also click on the What's New image on the left. This will lead you to a list of the recently added sites. On average 15/20 new sites are reviewed each month. Do not forget to send us your suggestions.
It should be noted that ENTERWeb is not a business directory but a meta-index of selected sites. During the evaluation and review process a large number of sites are rejected. Sites whose objectives are solely to promote their services are automatically rejected. Commercial sites are usually not included unless they provide a substantial amount of value added information, get yours for free too.
